Planet Earth, in a very different light 0

I am pretty stunned by this collection of imagery from shown in great detail at New Scientist. The image grabbing the headline shows the remoteness of any point on earth in a beautiful way. The world’s remotest place according to them is in Tibet, it would take 3 weeks to reach the nearest town of 50,000 people!

Other great images are showing how the world is literally plastered with roadways, and another shows how something so taken for granted as a railway is actually a real luxury when looking on a global scale.

All links are to the enlarged versions of the maps. Head on over and take a look, file under pretty damn cool!
