Where are the open source CD/DVD burning apps for Windows? 4

Feb21

As part of a ‘rollout’ of sorts I am doing for a school I have been pretty successful in finding them open source options for most of their software needs. They run Windows XP as the OS, but in terms of software there is very little in terms of closed source or payed-for software now. They use Star Office, Dia, Filezilla, Maguma, Netbeans and more, yet what they lack is a decent CD/DVD burning application. There is of course the built-in burning functionality, but we all know it sucks and isn’t very flexible.

So any suggestions for a good ‘Nero-Like’ open source (or at least free) alternative will be very much appreciated as at the moment I am finding only crap!

    Try this one:

You have to accept an ad screen when you close the application, but apart from that its OK and free.

Thanks SEO. I’ll put it to them though I am not sure how they will take the pop up ad part, especially if some of the ads are ‘less than savoury’ as it is a school we are talking about :)

Keep the suggestions coming …. there MUST be something open source, I just can’t find it!

Check out Infra Recorder. Its not as full featured as Nero, but it does burn DVDs and CDs…
