How Many Broken Promises Does it Take to Kill a Fanboy? 0
I just can’t help wonder what is in the head of some gamers when they still passionately sit on the PS3 side of the ‘console war.’
Let me get something straight… I hate fanboys of all flavours. Hate is perhaps the wrong word, but it really astounds me that some people have so little self-confidence and sense of identity that the only way they can identify themselves in the world is through aligning themselves with some technology in internet forums and blogs. I mean really… is the only way you can feel good about yourself is via blind loyalty to a brand of microchips, circuits or software code??
Linux zealouts, Microsoft champions, Wii fundamentalists and by far worst of all and the most heavily afflicted … Mac/Steve Jobs worshippers (just read the average days front page tripe and spam from macidiots at digg.com exemplified in perhaps the saddest way here) just aggravate me with their weakness and idiocy in willingly becoming part of a marketing machine and a cash cow with the biggest udders to milk!
But the insanity is at a peak with the PS3. Every single promise Sony made in the last 18 months or so is willingly swallowed and then almost every one of them broken since (with an extra few punches such as the price and lack of rumble thrown in for good measure!) yet these idiots still clog message boards and community sites with the blind sycophantic ‘loyalty’ to a company that has said to them almost literally ‘Work harder to pay for this expensive brick!’
Whilst there are automatons like these around, genuine debate on what is important in the technological world is hard to come by. It’s bad enough the gaming sites are generally ‘owned’ by certain megacorps to the point where an impartial review is impossible to find, but it has spread to the hardware side of things (starting long ago with the Nvidia and ATI shinnanigans) and I wish there were enough like-minded people around to make it stop!!
Rant over … some links to make the point (mostly taken from the cesspit of mac-spam digg.com!!)
Steve Jobs for President…. Errr WTF
I cannot believe someone out there has a life so empty as to make something like these videos
Saving the best till last… this sums it up perfectly
